Orchid Facts:
Orchids enjoy being grown in clear pots, because unlike other varieties of plants, their roots undergo photosynthesis. This is because in the wild, orchids will grow on rock facings and on the sides of trees. Clear plastic pots also allow us to easily inspect the roots of our orchid plants for pests, disease or overcrowding.
You should repot once every 1-2 years for most varieties. Orchids are happiest when tucked tightly into a pot, so never over-pot. Using too large of a pot will make them more prone to root rot. Look for a pot that is only an inch or two larger than their previous pot. You do not necessarily need a deeper pot. Wider is best.
Orchids are one of the largest and oldest families of plants in the world. For centuries, people all over the world have fallen in love with their flowers. Their bright colours, exciting shapes, and enchanting smells have evolved to attract pollinators. Many have a relationship with a single type of insect or bird that can pollinate their flowers.
